shots and screams

No, this post has nothing to do with the post-election violence in Kenya! Things seem to be getting closer to normal here.

We took Katie to the doctor this morning for her next set of shots. We talked with Cristiana about her getting some shots, too. But that was before we arrived. We decided that she would not have to have her shot today. It will take a bit more convincing on her part, since the last time that she got a “shot” was when they took blood from her last February (2007), and it was VERY traumatic. Since then she has been petrified of needles.

So, Katie gets her shot in one leg, and we let Cristiana watch. Hmmmmm, maybe that was not such a good idea. Anyway, Katie started to scream (duh!) and turn “blue in the face, I am holding my breath” mad.

Rod was out in the lobby on a phone call from work, Cristiana bolted out the door. He said as she came out she was holding the tears in. Well, Katie sure was not! She was screaming (duh!). And then got the shot in the second leg.

It will be interesting to see how Cristiana reacts when it is her turn. She needs to get one more shot (the MMR) in the next few months. She is actually overdue (supposed to be when they turn five).

Katie is now sound asleep, with her dose of Tylenol helping her little body. Cristiana is out playing in a tree house with some of the compound boys.

Hmmmmmm, not sure what we’ll have to do to get Cristiana to sit still for her shot. May take her very strong Daddy to hold her down. I know that I will NOT be able to sit with her for that one. We will schedule it for when he can go along.
