We have received some very interesting emails about my “losses” posts. Neither of them were to illicit sympathy. Both were simply a glimpse into our lives (and the lives of other missionaries that you may know).
Again, we do consider our lives here very rich and full. We are able to raise our children in a less consumeristic environment. I pray that Cristiana and Katie do not have to struggle with materialism like I do. Our girls get to grow up with a different kind of world view, which spans a little larger than our own backyards. We are very grateful for that. Just the other day I was explaining to someone how Katie is an American, was born in Qatar, and lives in Kenya. How neat. She has already been to two different countries within the first four weeks of her life. And, Cristiana has been to five different countries, not including this one, in her five years of life. Again, how neat!
We are very thankful for the grace that the Lord gives us when we see others go. For the people that He has brought into our lives, and for the ones that He will in the future.
And, we do feel that we have gained much more than we have lost, in our years here in Nairobi. We are grateful for that.
