first haircut

We gave Katie her first “hair cut”. It was really just a way of holding on to some of her “belly hair” as the Kenyans call it. They shave their kid’s hair soon after being born (sometimes months after, and this is the practice over much of the continent). Katie’s hair has been falling out and it is so long that I wanted to keep some of it. The new growth is all coming in and there are only a few pieces left. So, I cut the long side pieces. I don’t have a photo as Rod was holding her and I was cutting. I do have the hair, though!

The bit of hair that is still left at the front of her hair line is slowly going away. I am sad to see it fall out, but I know that she will have long hair quite quickly with the way it is growing.

The funny thing is that she actually looks different with those few pieces cut off. She looks more like a boy, so I am glad for the earring, even if there is only one. :-)
