her mind is growing

Cristiana’s brain is making strides in these, her young years. She is now really understanding a few things that are interesting to us.

First, she knows that school is Monday through Friday (here at home), and that Saturday morning she gets to watch a movie. Just like us growing up, for me, watching cartoons on a Saturday morning. Then, and most important, she can not wait until Sunday, she knows that day is the day after Saturday when she gets to watch a movie. Important, because she gets to go to church.

She LOVES church! We go to a church called Emmanuel Baptist Church. It used to meet in a school right across the street, but now meets in a tent in the yard of a school a few blocks down the road. The children’s program has really blossomed and she enjoys it so much. There are enough other “wazungu” (white) kids there that they just leave her blond hair alone. (We were going to a church where all the little girls would come up to her and touch her hair -- as they were fascinated by it. Cristiana did not like that!)

Second, in her growing mind, she misses Daddy so much more now when he is gone. She knows that he will not be here in the mornings when she wakes up. She knows that he will not be here at night when we eat dinner, even though many evenings, we still “hold hands” with him as we pray. She asks how many days it will be until he comes home. She misses him in a really new way. One that is even hard for me to explain, just in a way that I know that her brain is understanding more. Growing.

It is all so fascinating! To know that the Lord, the Creator of Heaven and Earth, also created us in the way that He did. That He made us to comprehend things at certain times as we grow older. And, that He gave us the free will to choose Him or not.

WOW!
