hacked

Wow, have you ever had a message come up on your computer screen, as you were in the middle of going between internet sites, that told you that you were hacked? AAAAAAAAAAAAA, that happened to me this morning. It was the scariest thing. It was like someone was looking at me, but I could not see them. I felt very bare and exposed.

The first thing I did was to unplug my cable so as to immediately be disconnected from the internet. Then, with wide open and scared looking eyes (and mouth I am sure!), I ran downstairs and told Rod about it. He actually stepped back from me as I was telling him -- I guess I was kind of scary looking! We had a computer friend come over and look at the (yuck, vulgar!) message and he assured us that it was probably just on the our ISP site, and that the hacker did not get into our computer. (But, that we should also be checking our credit card account over the next few weeks just to make sure that if they did get into our server, that they are not using our cc account. That hackers usually do just that, get into a database like that and get all of the user information and use the credit cards for themselves, or sell them, or whatever.)

Thankfully, we are on a different server to be online, a different one than we use for email. And, Mike checked to see if our firewall protection was on. Unfortunately, it had been turned off, so he reset it.

Wow, what a feeling of being laid open without a way of “clothing” oneself. Yuck, I don’t like the feeling, even now as I type this, hours later.

Lord, I pray that Your guardian and warrior angels will continue to watch over and protect us . . . in all things, including our computer dealings! In Jesus’ Name, amen!
