Well, we really do not understand it, and at this point we do not need to.
Two weeks ago we went in to get the first ultrasound here -- it was just a peace of mind scan before we started telling people here. We had one at eight weeks in the States to make sure that the baby was in the correct position. The ultrasound doc here asked me to come back in at 14 weeks to check some measurements to give an indication of any abnormalities. I told him that would be okay, but after that we do not want anymore tests. (Mainly because we won’t do anything different anyway if something is wrong.)
We were supposed to go in on Monday, but Rod’s schedule changed for next week and he is supposed to leave on Sunday afternoon. We went in this morning. The funniest thing happened, I guess we have a big wiggler again. The doc could not get a good photo of him because he kept moving. Finally . . . after having me switch to BOTH sides to see if he cold get a good shot of the little wiggly one, he finally did. He took a measurement of the neck at the spine, straight on from the back. The measurement was 1.5mm, anything under 3.0mm is normal and healthy!!!!! (No Down's syndrome.) While I was on my right side, and the baby was moving so much, he even did some jumping jacks, jumping up and down. It was hilarious to watch! This little one may even out-do Cristiana in the “never-sitting-still” area of life. Hmmmmmm, what do we have in store for our little family?!!
PRAISE THE LORD! Our little one is normal, so far. :-) Now, he will just be raised by this abnormal mother and THEN he’ll turn abnormal too! :-)
Seriously, though, we do give the Lord all praise for His continued protection and proper, normal, healthy development of this little one. I really don't remember what the rest of the different stages are of possible problems, but as they come we will continue to pray for him. (We call him “he” and “him” just cuz, not because we can tell yet. So don’t go telling anyone he is a boy!)
Thanks for your prayers for this little one!
We are so thankful to the Lord for allowing our family to grow!
