On the 6th of February, Cristiana turned five. We did a little celebration, with a birthday song bascially, in the hospital since Katie and I were still there. and we told Cristiana that she would get a party here with a few friends in a week. Well, the other night we decided that we are just going to have a “play date” with a family that we have gotten to know here. They have a little girl who is four, another who is two, and a brand new baby boy who is just a few weeks old. (The Daniel kids have all been sick and they are needing to stay home and get well and strong before venturing out again. There is a nasty bug going around all the schools here.) We will still need to make Cristiana’s cake and have a little party here at the house. And, then once we return to Nairobi, we will have her birthday party with some of her girlfriends. That is what she wanted.
Her other birthday is the one where “the angels rejoiced in Heaven“. Yes, our little five-year-old, on the 9th, accepted Christ into her heart. We have been talking about it for some time now, and she often prays that everyone will have Jesus in their heart. But, on the morning of the 9th, she was asking Daddy all about death and telling him that his “Grandma B” had died. (That is her way of saying Grandmom Moyer, as she knows we call my Grandma, “Grandma B”.) And, the conversation ended with her praying for Jesus to come into her heart. She does understand to an extent. We now continue to pray that she learns more about Him througout her life and can truly know what it means to be a Follower.
And, the angels rejoiced!
